Reference

The various policies and programs implemented by the State had previously prioritized the development of agro-industry based on imported raw materials, to the detriment of small-scale agriculture. Imports currently provide approximately 60% of the food consumed in Gabon, with market demand growing. While the industrialization of the oil palm, rubber, and poultry sectors has experienced constant double-digit growth over the past ten years, much remains to be done for the livestock sector. Substituting imports with local production will reduce food costs and contribute to accelerating the industrialization of the country's priority sectors, as well as creating direct and indirect jobs in the agri-food sector. Key agro-industrial players include: - Olam Palm Gabon is one of the largest companies in Gabon's agro-industrial sector in edible oil. The Asian multinational OLAM began operations in Gabon in 1999 and is currently developing seven industrial and agro-industrial projects in several joint ventures with the Gabonese Republic.
