Thanks to its Congolese mine Mpama Nord, the mining company Alphamin produced a total of 10,969 tonnes of tin in 2021, representing 4% of the global supply. Pending the start of production at Mpama Sud, it plans to increase its volumes to 12,000 tonnes in 2022.
Among the notable intersections of mineralization recently made at Mpama Sud, we can notably mention that of 22.7 m grading 3.12% of tin from a depth of 391.6 m, including 7.7 m at a grade of 4.73% of tin.

According to current estimates, the Mpama South project would host 0.83 million tonnes of indicated resources, grading 2.58% of tin, and 1.95 million tonnes of inferred resources grading 2.52% of tin. A preliminary economic assessment was published in early March, indicating that the deposit would have the capacity to produce 7,000 tonnes of contained tin annually. To develop the project, which would allow it to significantly increase its production volumes, Alphamin will have to disburse an estimated capital investment of 116 million TP4T.
Despite the underperformance of prices, the mining company, which posted a year-on-year growth of 4%, achieved a cumulative production volume of 6,241 tonnes of tin in the first half of 2022. This production is expected to increase by the Mauritius-based company, thanks to the start of production at the Mpama Sud mine.
With a tin content of approximately 4.5%, Mpama North is the world's richest tin resource, approximately four times higher than most other active tin mines worldwide. The mine currently supplies all of the volumes sold to American company Gerald Metals.
