The Ministry of Arts and Culture (Minac) is responsible for implementing and evaluating government policy on the promotion and development of arts and culture. It defines the State's political vision for arts and culture development and sets guidelines for its implementation through technical departments: notably the Directorate of Cinematography and Audiovisual Productions (DCPA), responsible for film; the Directorate of Performing Arts and Creative Industries (DSIC); and the National Ensemble (DEN), responsible for music and musical performances. These structures set the various objectives to be achieved and also establish mechanisms for monitoring their performance in accordance with public policy instruments, particularly Priority Action Plans (PAPs).<\/p>\n

The State's strategy is characterized by its support for cultural enterprises, structuring its actions around objectives related to the production and promotion of cultural goods and services. The deployment of public action in support of film and music in Cameroon stems from several public and semi-public administrations, such as the Ministry of Arts and Culture (MINAC), the Film Industry Development Fund (FODIC), the Special Allocation Account for Supporting Cultural Policy (CASSPC), and collective management organizations (CMOs).<\/p>\n

The country benefits from a dual linguistic culture, Anglo-Saxon and Francophone. Contemporary arts, such as music and literature, flourish and contribute to Cameroon's great artistic creativity, exemplified by numerous artists and writers.<\/p>

The Black Screens Festival
<\/b>Since 1997, the Ecrans Noirs Association has organized this annual cultural event, which dominates continental news for a week, showcasing the vast talent of African filmmakers and audiovisual artists. The festival reveals new names and introduces new films. For example, Kang Quintus's film "The Fisherman's Diary" represented Cameroon and Central Africa at the 2020 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film in the United States. The works of Jean-Pierre Bekolo, Jean-Marie Teno, Bassek Ba Kobhio, Victor Vinyuoh, and Fran\u00e7ois Woukouache have enjoyed great success on the international stage.<\/p>\n

From October 14 to 21, 2023, the 27th Ecrans Noirs will describe the relationship that exists between generations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
